2009 STUDENTS ARE HERE - click

WELCOME - We REALLY Look forward to seeing YOU!!

EVERYONE IS VERY DIFFERENT AND WE ENCOURAGE AND
DEVELOP THE REAL ARTIST IN YOU.

(One very important point(!) - do not feel intimidated by these stunning paintings(!) - WE GET EVERYONE Painting Professionally!!

This is Richard's 3rd visit and boy is he getting better and better - this is just one of his masterpieces - the other 3 were sensational too! Brilliant!!

GET CREATIVE - 13/14th MARCH

Spring appeared to arrive this weekend and the students
could sit outside to eat lunch.

Great marks, great tone and excellent colours!

'Get Creative' is all about exploring your creativity and 'thinking outside the box' - so this is just wonderful - clever, competent and stunning!

These are 'mixed media' and inspired by a single flower -
to create two very contemporary works.
Lovely 'dance' of form.

Isn't this lovely? Wonderful reality in both paintings but some real style as well. Well done!

BEGINNERS - 6/7th March

Great weekend with much talent from the students.

The next Beginners Course we will be painting a
Spring Bluebells painting

Whooopeeeeeee!!

Lovely, carefully muted colours - you can almost think you were there!!

Sorry about the shadow, looks like some really
good paint work!

!
A Van Gogh sky and much originality!

Wonderful strong colour and strength

Great contrast of strength and fragility

I just love that sunset - very well captured

This is such a lovely painting but sorry for the photo!

ACRYLIC, WATERCOLOUR AND OILS 27/28th February

Phew! What a challenge. Experimenting with all three mediums is exciting, challenging and fun!! We got frustrated with
some mediums, thrilled with others and 'okish' about another
- and we were all different!!

Caroline's preferred mediums are oils and acrylics - she doesn't
have the temperament for watercolour - (she's a bit too painterly and innovative!) but that's the key(!) - understanding which
medium satisfies you the most!

We all worked from an inspiring still life and to make a sensible comparison - created the same elements of the still life in
each different medium.

Students' Watercolour

Same students' acrylic and the oil is still being worked on.

Students' acrylic and watercolour

Students' oil painting. Photo does not do it justice.
This student was BRILLIANT at oils!

PORTRAIT COURSE - FEBRUARY 13/14/15TH 2010

'It's brilliant - I totally understand now I've learnt about the structure of the face. Cat was fantastic in her tuition. I was completely daunted before by the thought of a portrait but now I'm confident and very excited!' Caroline Feb 2010

PORTRAIT COURSE

13/14/15th FEBRUARY

A really sensational course with Cat teaching

This young man has a great deal of talent. The whole group were just lovely and it was a really great three days painting portraits!

Pink Tone Portrait

Pink Tone Portrait

FEBRUARY 13TH

2nd Day

Colour Mixing and everyone painted two portraits.

One in a pink tone and one in a dark tone

Caroline continued in her slightly 'abstract' style and the very talented 14 year old created a fantasy all of his own!

FEBRUARY 13TH

So excited about the portrait course that we had to put some images on of the 1st day. (Posted on the 1st day!!)

The first day is spent understanding the bones and muscles of the face - making pastel drawings

Then we learn how to create features and then we do a quick (2 hours) acrylic painting - BEFORE even learning about mixing colour etc tomorrow - Our 'quick' painting is just to get used to the paint and feel the transition from pastel to paint - P.S two of the students are 13 and 16 years of age!

(Caroline's painting) This painting was done after Cat's sensational tuition - by an artist who had NEVER painted a portrait before - OUTSTANDING!! ON THE 1ST DAY - Can't wait to see what happens on the 2nd & 3rd!!

A student's 1st day painting

ABSTRACTS FROM LANDSCAPES 2010

January 30/31st and 1st February 2010

and it was a new course.

'Abstracts from Landscapes' - click

Painting on the left - 1st day - painting on the
right 2nd day (and after 'homework'! on Saturday night!!)

This can be quite a demanding course - it's up to you -
what you take from it(!) This lady - a returner really
worked at her compositions and paint work. The painting
on the right was from the first session - the one on the left
is the 2nd days painting. We compose our own compositions
and really work at paint techniques.

Lovely Karen is from Switzerland and was on the course for three days - we did some 'comparative analysis' on the 3rd day.
