The University of Hertfordshire has just launched its first Writing Award
The Award is free to enter and entrants are invited to submit a short story of up to 3,500 words on the theme of 'vision'. The deadline for entries is 15 January 2007.
Prizes
1st prize £1,000 2nd prize £500 3rd prize £300 4th prize £200
The winner will also be able to apply for the UH Writing Award three-year scholarship to the University of Hertfordshire, study commencing in 2007 (terms and conditions apply).
The top twenty stories will be published in an anthology by the University of Hertfordshire Press.
Judges
The Award is to be judged by Helen Oyeyemi, author of The Icarus Girl, which she wrote whilst studying for her A-levels. She will be joined by Philippa Milnes-Smith, Managing Director of LAW Literary Agency and Josh Lacey, commissioning editor on The Guardian’s Saturday Review.
