HOTLINKING.
IS SOMEONE linking DIRECTLY to YOUR IMAGES ON YOUR WEB SITE and have them on THEIR web site?
YOU WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL YOU CHECK YOUR WEB STATS.
Hotlinkers or 'Spongers' are stealing your bandwidth and your money and in some cases breaking copyright laws.
It's completely uneccessary, rude and lazy. It's time the hotlinkers were exposed.
You can find the 'spongers' or hotlinkers on your web stats. Look under 'referrers' and then 'spongers'- it will give a list of the web site name and your image they are linking to.
It's very unfair and it lets other artists pretend your images are theirs. As well as: A)costing you money, b)making your web site run slowly. C)breaks copyright laws. Let us know the hotlinkers to your web site or ask us more about this insidious practice. email |
