First of all - don't go finding contacts from the resources that are listed below and just ask them for money. It won't work! You have to have a good reason to apply for arts funding - it's not easy. Study each arts funding source carefully and see exactly what they are offering. Follow their guidelines for application rigidly and don't abuse the system and waste their time and yours.

It's a time consuming business trying to get arts funding and don't expect it - and for goodness sake follow all the rules, be very polite and have a very good reason to want sponsoring - not just because you want to paint a picture, make a film and enjoy yourself. It's a serious business.

Sponsorship is something else - and the money comes from a Company's advertising or marketing budget. You won't get sponsorship unless you are offering the Company something - i.e. corporate image, publicity, credibility, entertainment, employee relations etc. This sponsorship could be in money form or in kind - donating materials etc.

To find a company who may be interested in sponsoring you, get some local business directories which are produced by the Chamber of Commerce, http://www.britishchambers.org.uk the Major Companies Guide (DSC), A Guide to Company Giving (DSC) and the Hollis Sponsorship and Donations Yearbook (Hollis).

You can also get Arts Funding from Private Companies - in the form of Sponsorship or Charitable Donations.

Charitable Donations come from a Companies Charity Budget which is subject to tax benefits. But a company making a charitable donation is not allowed to make commercial gain from their donation - which means they gain nothing from giving you a donation.

Also look in the yellow pages for companies, read your local newspapers and see which companies have sponsored the arts in the past and may be interested in sponsoring the arts in the future.

PLEASE NOTE WE DO NOT MAKE FUNDING OURSELVES - SO DO NOT WRITE OR EMAIL - WE CAN NOT HELP YOU
